Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a cloud hosting service that provides an array of on-demand IT resources to companies. The most common services are Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), which offers resizable computing capacity, Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), which offers data storage, and Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS), which offers data persistence.
The Amazon Web Services platform hosts many different types of services including databases, image storage, hosting as a service, ruby on rails, Nodejs, and more.

Amazon Web Services was launched in 2006 by the company of the same name. AWS is currently one of the largest providers of cloud computing platforms across North America and Europe.
